I read a recent study where scientist estimated that on average we each make around 35,000 decisions every day.
That may seem like a crazy estimate, but when you think about it, we are constantly making decisions within each moment of any given day.
What clothes to wear.
What food to eat.
What route to drive.
How to spend your time.
Who you speak to. What you say.
What activities to participate in.
You even made the decision to read this article.
The list could go on and on.
We are constantly making decisions, impulsively and consciously. Some decisions are thought through while others are completely spontaneous.
Growing up I had many people in my life that would preach to me about how each decision comes with a consequence, which could either be big or small, positive or negative.
I had plenty of people scream in my ear…You get to choose your decisions but you can’t choose your consequences. Your decisions do that for you.
As I think about it…this is a key principle to achievement. This is what the high achievers have figured out. They understand the concept of making good and purposeful decisions.
They make decisions that will maximize their day and build a greater future.
They decide to take the good with the bad and maintain a positive attitude.
They decide to eliminate distractions and stay focused on the things that matter.
They decide to do what’s uncomfortable and go the extra mile.
They decide to learn from their failures and never settle.
Their success is crafted by their decisions.
WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS?
The difference between the person that succeeds and the person that falls short is the decisions that they make.
We each get 24 hours in a day, those that succeed focus on making the best decisions that will maximize their day.
The choice is always yours...
You can skip the gym today or you can push yourself to go in order to achieve your fitness goals.
You can sleep in a little while longer or get up an hour earlier to work on the project that you wanted to complete.
You can put off your dream for another day or decide that today is the day that you are pursuing what truly matters to you.
It’s our daily decisions that are the difference makers.
TAKE CONTROL
The one that dominates their day is the one that takes control of their decision-making.
They live their days by design not by default. Stepping into each day with a plan of action that moves them closer to their ultimate goals and making decisions that will build a greater future.
Take control of your future by focusing on your daily decisions.
What daily decisions are you making that are potentially holding you back?
What decisions are you not making that could propel your life forward?
Become more aware of your daily decisions and take control of your life.
It’s easy to do what’s easy, but we have to be different…Let’s make the decision to do what others aren’t willing to do in order to create lives of abundance and lasting success.
The choice is yours. Make the best decision for your future.
