HOW TO GET PAST THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

You have a DREAM and it excites you when you think about it. You believe that it's what you want and that it can revolutionize your life, but there's just one thing...you don't know if it really will happen. There's a part of you that believes but another part of you that is terrified of the unknown. You shy away from uncertainty because you like to have the journey mapped out without any unforeseen detours or even possible failures that seem to signal that you've reached a dead end road.

We all have experienced this feeling. It's the feeling of doubt and fear, the two greatest enemies of greatness. There are countless individuals that have had dreams and great aspirations but because of this intense feeling, they never achieved their goals in life.

Some of the worst decisions we make are the ones that are based on fear and not optimism. Missing the opportunity to live your DREAMS can often come back to haunt you. People often regret mistakes more than they enjoy success.

"Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do."-Mark Twain

Here are a few elevating strategies to prevent us from living a life of regret by conquering our fears and seizing opportunities:

REALIZE THAT FEAR IS NOT UNIQUE TO JUST YOU

Everyone faces fear. Many times we can think that we are the only person that feels fearful at times. Look to others for hope. Speaking in front of a crowd, publishing a book, starting a new business, and many other endeavors bring some level of fear, however due to the fact that others are achieving these tasks is evidence that fear is being conquered. If others can do it, so can you.

RECOGNIZE THAT FEAR DEVELOPS COURAGE

As you start taking steps toward your DREAMS, you are left with two choices: Stay in your comfort zone or charge past the limits to reach greater levels in your life. Those that are achieving their goals are making the choice to charge toward their success, and that charge is driven by courage. Here's another way to look at fear: Fear is just an opportunity for bravery training. Fear gives you the ability to exercise your courage. If you learn to resist and master fear, you'll be equipped with more boldness that enables you to take further steps in life.

TAKE A NEW PERSPECTIVE AT RISK

Simply put: Be less worried about making a reckless mistake than missing an amazing opportunity. We can spend so much time pointing out what can go wrong that we miss the benefit of what can go right. If you're taking a calculated risk and you believe that this is going to bring you success, focus on the possibility of things working out. Fear and faith are both invisible, why choose fear?

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE INFLUENCES

Never underestimate the power of influence. In many cases, we become our conversations. If we are spending our time with people that are always backing down to a challenge or live in fear when it comes to going after success...this can have an effect on you. Surround yourself with other's that are constantly challenging themselves to aim for more in life. Connect with others that are achieving their goals. Some of their courage and confidence will rub off on you, and if they're true friends they won't just tell you, "Good luck!"...They'll tell you, "Never give up!".

LET YOUR PASSION STRENGTHEN YOUR FAITH

Fear can be an overwhelming emotion that paralyzes your potential, however there is one emotion that trumps fear...PASSION. Remember that in order to become who you REALLY are, you have to learn to bear a little anxiety, and passion helps you through the process. Passion causes you to do it scared. It intensifies your faith and gives you the ability to see the invisible, touch the intangible, and feel the unreachable. Many people that have become successful in their DREAMS didn't have everything figured out, there was plenty unknown, the odds were against them, but yet instill they kept moving forward simply because they loved it and were willing to suffer for their success. They allowed their passion to strengthen their faith.

We all have the power of choice. We can choose to be intimated and never take our step toward greatness or we can choose to move toward our destiny. Don't let the unknown stop you from getting what you truly want out of life. Don't fear what makes you uncomfortable...Accept the challenge to be great. Let's elevate!
